I am pleased to announce that the Town of Cary Arts Exhibition Review Committee has accepted my series Views of Urban Blues for a solo exhibit. Due to the pandemic, the show has been rescheduled for Summer 2021.
Views of Urban Blues is a series of digital works based on photos of original architectural models created from computer parts. The series is unapologetically utopian and explores the beauty of a world apart, a community formed from the technological detritus of our own time and place. The city view, an artistic trope used by cultures around the world and throughout time to convey the sublimity of the built environment, provides the viewer with an opportunity to engage with the relationships among architectural forms and their settings. Views of Urban Blues asks us to imagine ourselves in a place where both technology and nature inspire tranquility, and the blues make us hope.
